Svetlana Mironova – life in orienteering with sense and love
I come from an orienteering family and started my first steps at my early childhood. Later, the curiosity about searching colorful flags turned to my permanent intension to improve, grow and win! Now I’m also a coach and have opened my school.

My life steps
Beginning
Yes, everything in the life begins with a family. I was born in a family of orienteering fans – my parents are both orienteering runners and coaches, who have had a successful own orienteering career before. I started doing orienteering in a Specialized Youth Olympic Sport School № 12 when I was 6, and my first national youth championships gold medal was at the age of 15. Three years in raw, 2003-2005, I was a part of National Youth Orienteering Team and participated in Junior European Cups.
In 2006 I was selected to my first JWOC, and then, I participated in WUOC twice, in 2008 and 2010, where I had individual 8th place in sprint and 5th place in relay.
Elite sport
National Elite orienteering team member since 2009 with 21 gold medals of National Champs.

European Champion
Two Finnish national championships gold medals (long and middle)
Second Place in worldofo project “Achievement of the year” – 2014
Halden Skiklubb
I’m a member of Halden SK from 2020 as an elite athlete. In spring of 2022 I was an Ambassador of Tiomila-22 project and carrying out duties of technical and tactical group preparations.

My base high education was economics, 2003-2008. Then, I completed masters degree in marketing in 2010-2011. As I was already fully into sport, my master’s degree thesis was about creating a sport related brand.

Recently I decided that I would like to connect my future with what I really love. I completed the retraining degree in athletics coaching. Since then, my mission is not only to continue my own sport career, but also to help professionally to other people who is eager to improve their orienteering or to do steps in running sports.
